My always go-to Japanese restaurant here in Tacloban—Nomikai! I absolutely love their Nagasaki-style ramen and Oyakodon. The flavors are spot on, and the best part is that it’s very affordable! Their ramen servings are generous—usually good for two people to share. The ambiance is also great, giving off cozy and authentic vibes that make dining even more enjoyable. If you’re craving Japanese food in Tacloban, Nomikai is definitely the place to be!
Food was delicious. Ambiance was nice. Staff were hospitable as well as the owner
I was too excited to try the food that I forgot to take a picture before touching it. I had chicken curry and it tasted fantastic, and so did the chicken teriyaki. Definitely deserves more recognition.
A small place, yet it captures the Japanese vibe of the restaurant well. We ordered black garlic tonkotsu ramen, oyakodon, and chicken teriyaki—all incredibly delicious. I expected the teriyaki to be ordinary, but it turned out to be very flavorful. The ramen was tasty, though it felt like something was missing, but I couldn’t pinpoint what. The serving sizes were just right for the price, and my husband and I left feeling very full. One last note: I hope they start accepting card or GCash/Maya payments next time we visit.
What surprised me the most is how flavorful the noodles is. It's miles better than Tongara and Otabeya. The soup's flavor goes straight into the noodles, making the entire bowl taste cohesive. The place is pretty small though. Better to go here on weekdays.
We recently dined at Nomikai Gastro Pub and had a pleasant experience. The dishes were nicely presented and served fresh, but what really stood out was the amazing service. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely made us feel welcome. Our waitress went above and beyond to assist us, and we appreciated her so much that we gave her a tip. Overall, it was a great dining experience because of the outstanding service and inviting atmosphere.
